THE MISSION

Good PC maintenance starts with good information. Find the right tools, understand the trade-offs, and protect your data before changing anything.

Our approach
THE QUICK ANSWER

Which Windows utility fits your task?

Choose by outcome, not a product promise: use drive maintenance tools for HDD/SSD health questions, imaging utilities for recoverable backups, recovery tools for missing files, and privacy or erasure tools for device-data decisions. Keep a tested backup before making changes, and read the relevant product's official documentation.

04 / BEFORE YOU CLICK

Slow down.
Protect first.

Before changing storage settings or attempting recovery, consider these three precautions.

01
Know what you're changing

Check the hardware, the risk, and the purpose of the tool before taking action.

02
Keep a recovery route

Verify a backup and have access to important recovery keys or media.

03
Measure, don't assume

Look for observable changes; no utility can guarantee the same result on every computer.

What is O&O Software used for?

O&O Software publishes Windows utilities for tasks such as disk maintenance, system backups, data recovery, privacy adjustments, and secure data deletion. Different tools solve different problems; they are not interchangeable.

What is the difference between O&O Defrag and O&O DiskImage?

O&O Defrag is primarily a drive-optimization utility. O&O DiskImage creates backups and disk images that can support recovery. Optimization does not replace a backup.

Should I defragment an SSD?

Avoid applying a traditional HDD-style defragmentation routine to an SSD without understanding its controller and the software guidance. Windows SSD maintenance commonly includes TRIM, which is distinct from arranging HDD file fragments.

Can a file-recovery tool guarantee my data will come back?

No. The chances of recovery depend on device health, whether deleted blocks were reused or trimmed, encryption, and the amount of subsequent activity. Stop writing to affected media and use a separate recovery destination.
